NOWSHERA: Advisor to Chief Minister on Economic Affairs Rafaqatullah Babar, who had sustained injuries in a road accident, breathed his last at the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) on Friday.
He was returning after attending the annual Shandur polo festival in Chitral when his vehicle met an accident in Shangla district on Wednesday. He received critical head injuries. His wife and children sustained minor injuries. All were shifted to the LRH where he succumbed to his injuries. He was 58.
His body was shifted to his native village Pirpiai and was laid to rest after his funeral prayers were offered at the Government Girls High School in Pirpiai.He left behind a widow and four children to mourn his death.
Provincial ministers, civil and military officials and a large number of political activists attended his funeral. His ‘Qul’ would be offered at his house in Sadrikhel in Pirpiai.Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, who like Rafaqatullah Babar also belongs to Nowshera, made him his advisor and listened to his advice. He was assigned the task to attract foreign investment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Rafaqatullah Babar was born in Pirpiai in 1956. He did his matriculation from the Government High School No-I City in Peshawar in 1971, qualified his F Sc from Government College Peshawar in 1973 and graduation from the Edwardes College in 1975.
He became chartered accountant in 1981 and launched his accountancy firm. He had been director finance in Forest and Industries departments. He had also established the Khyber College of Commerce and Khyber Institute of Children.
