Among the hullabaloo of Windows Phone
at IFA in Berlin today, Samsung managed to sneak out yet another tablet.
Samsung says the Galaxy Tab Active has been built specifically with businesses in mind, which basically means a focus on security and other enterprise-friendly functions. It’s also been ‘ruggedized’, to make it a little more durable. Indeed, Samsung says the anti-shock casing can tolerate a drop from 1.2 meters, and is also water and dust ‘resistant’, so no immersive baths with this badboy.
Interestingly, Samsung says it worked closely with a range of Fortune 500 firms, with advisory group workshops helping to inform the tablet’s design.
At IFA last year, Samsung announced the commercial availability of KNOX
, designed to protect devices if they are corrupted or stolen. As such, the Galaxy Tab Active supports KNOX, which will be a key appeal to firms looking to safeguard apps and data.
Additionally, Samsung’s C-Pen stylus is attached to the Active’s cover, which the company says will appeal specifically to business professionals who have to wear gloves (e.g. on a construction site).
